BCDR-AAA International Arbitration Program

The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) launched on 6 September 2014 a new International Arbitration Training Program in collaboration with leading Arab and international arbitration experts. The program, which takes place at the BCDR-AAA’s premises at the Diplomatic Area in Manama, Bahrain, is part of BCDR-AAA’s efforts to develop local and regional legal expertise in international arbitration, and to spread the awareness of arbitration as a more viable option in dispute resolution.

The program is provided in Arabic and is comprised of three modules with each module offered in 12 training hours over the span of two days. The first module covers arbitration rules and the arbitration agreement. The second module covers the arbitration committee and the procedures for arbitration. The third module covers the enforcement as well as the annulment of the arbitral award.

The first module was taught by Dr. Adnan Amkhan Beno, Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh and the Univesity of Kent (Brussels), Dr. Hamzah Haddad, Founder and Managing Director of the Law and Arbitration Center and the Arab Institute for Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Settlement in Jordan, and Prof. Nassib G. Ziadé, CEO of the BCDR-AAA and Lecturer at the College of Law at the University of Maimi and the College of Law at St. Joseph University (Dubai). 28 students from diverse professional backgrounds and sectors in Bahrain participated in the first module of the program. The program is provided with the support of Tamkeen for Bahraini candidates.
